We advocate for people with Parkinson’s
Placing the voices of people with Parkinson’s and their perspectives at the centre of initiatives and studies that concern them.
Challenging stigma and exclusion, and increasing participation for people with Parkinson’s in everyday environments.
Bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world experiences of Parkinson’s through accessible, creative resources.
The project uses research, poetry, and community engagement to share stories about what life with Parkinson’s is like.
We have a special focus on raising awareness of early Parkinson’s. This is because the experiences of younger people with Parkinson’s are currently not well understood. Parkinson’s is still thought of as an older person’s illness.
Our resources are designed to support people with Parkinson’s to express themselves, be better understood and included in their communities. We also support researchers to work meaningfully with people with Parkinson’s to meet their needs and reflect their preferences.

Start at Belonging is a series of illustrated poetic dialogues, exploring artistic practice as a mode of inquiry, a tool for self-expression, and a bridge for understanding young-onset Parkinson’s disease and other chronic illnesses. This is available to view online or download.

If you live with early or late age Parkinson’s, we would love to share your unique stories expressed through poetry. Submit a poem you have written and include a short bio.
